As long as the devices are on the same subnet, they should see each other.
I had this problem a couple of days ago. There was a Chromecast update on the Mibox, after that updated, I rebooted and everything worked fine again.
If you are talking about mirroring opposed to casting ( you can only cast certain websites, videos... you can mirror anything, difference being when mirroring your cell phone screen stays on)
On your mi box go to the Google Play store and download AirScreen.
Go through the setup process.
Go to AirScreen app and press the start button - should say searching for connection( or something like that)
Then go to your phone and turn on casting ( I stuggled with this, you must first start the AirScreen app then cast your phone after or it won't find it)
Select airscreen_mibox or what ever you called your connection name.
Then your phone will be mirrored to your mibox.
Some tv stations that broadcast live tv don't have casting available so you need to mirror - I do this to watch jepordy on my local TV station.
