Hello, I've been a Tellybean user since I got my Mi Box so here's my experience:

  1. At first, I was informed that Android TV devices didn't support USB webcams except for the Nvidia Shield so I was using their own camera app called "Tellybean Camera" and it works great, you can use any Android or iOS phone to convert it into a web camera.

  2. A few days ago I heard the Mi Box actually support webcams, but they must be UVC webcams, I was able to test one and it worked! so you must follow this instructions:

  • AT THE ANDROID TV HOME SCREEN CONNECT THE CAMERA, WAIT A FEW SECONDS AND THEN OPEN TELLYBEAN, IT WILL NOT RECOGNIZE IT.

  • GO BACK HOME AND REBOOT THE MI BOX BY PRESSING AND HOLDING THE POWER BUTTON UNTIL "REBOOT" APPEARS, THEN PRESS THE SELECT BUTTON.

  • WHEN THE DEVICE REBOOTS AND IT'S ON THE HOME SCREEN, OPEN TELLYBEAN AND YOU WILL SEE THE "TEST CAMERA" OPTION, THAT DOESN'T APPEAR AT FIRST.

HERE IS A LIST OF UVC COMPATIBLE CAMERAS:

  1. the Tellybean app is very cool, you can leave it logged in, and every time you receive a call you can see a notification at the bottom right of the screen whether you are watching a video or playing a game and it's not obtrusive.
