While it's nice to see FunimationNow finally on Android TV, this is a really sloppy port from the Fire TV version that seems to have been barely tested. As evidence (on the Nexus Player with O):

  • The Search is non-functional because there's no actual Search button; you can enter a search term, but can't the do anything with it, even the onscreen keyboard search button is replaced with a carriage return for some reason. I guess the testers didn't even both checking this one with Android O, because who cares about searching, right?

  • No integration at all with Android TV features such as universal search, channels, etc.

  • No effort whatsoever at implementing material design, but I guess even Google doesn't care about that anymore even for its own apps.

  • And small things like this: while playing video, the "Show Info/Hide Info" tries to replicate the Fire TV's Info button, but Hide Info can't actually be selected in the UI with the Down button as indicated. Again, 5 minutes testing makes this obvious.

  • Impossible to set Default Language in Settings, just crashes out.

  • The app shares with the Fire TV version its tendency to crash repeatedly on certain videos, and the left slideout menu repeats the same visual glitches where it half-hides itself sometimes. The selection of these menu items remains hideously awkward and visually confusing.

I'm so fed up of companies half-assing their apps like this these days. So many issues that are obvious from only a cursory use of the app, yet remain unfixed months after launch ... do they even have pride in their products anymore?

For any Aussies/New Zelanders out there, Go try AnimeLab on my mibox, Im using it over crunchyroll as its free to use unless you want super HD quality
