Xbox one s is a pretty meh 4k player.
It is a 4k Blu-ray player, but it seriously lacks usability. Even with a Harmony remote it is very tedious to use streaming apps with my Xbox One S.
And I have a lot of Blu-rays, a dozen or so 4k.
I play games on my Xbox One S and the family uses it as a Blu-ray player. For streaming, we all use the Shield TVs.
My question is: Are you asking a question or are you starting a discussion in order to insert your beliefs and start a debate about the subject? Because it does seem like you've already made your mind up over which you prefer.
I've owned the shield tv since it came out in 2015 and also have a nexus player and philips android tv. For me living in the uk the xbox one is a better media streamer, once kodi comes to the xbox i doubt ill have much cause to use my shield at all other than in the background as i use it for hdhomerun and plex server duties. Android TV only has one tv catchup app in the uk(bbciplayer). HDHomerun app is much slower for skipping and more buggy than the xbox equivalent, same for the Netflix app, and Amazon Prime video still isn't working on my Shield, well over a year since its been reported by myself and dozens of other users.
Out of all the smart devices I have tried, (Nvidia shield TV, Xbox one s, fire stick, Samsung smart TV 2016) the Nvidia shield TV is the best hands down. The Xbox one s isn't bad, but there are annoyances like live working on top of you internet working. If 4k Blu-ray is important, then an Xbox one s might be your best bet, otherwise go for the shield.
If it supports kodi, sure. But sadly it doesn't. Kinda ironic since kodi is also known as xbmc which originated from xbox.
Xbox became a game player that does media. Ps4 is a media player that does games.
None of you understood my question, i asked whats the best value for money. Xbox one s does all what nvidea sheild does plus more, 4k blue ray player plus all the gaming which nvidea cannot. I beleive 75 dollars more is worth it.
It doesn't run android, so I don't know why you're asking here.
The Xbone s costs 75$ more than a shield. The shield can play 4k hdr content. It doesn't have a Blu ray drive, but many don't want that. Personally, I haven't bought a disk for games or videos in 5 years.
If you need a Blu ray drive, then I don't know why you'd be comparing the Xbone s to products that don't have one.
Your whole post makes no sense.
