Netflix on Shield TV

by mutcholoko32

I know that this can be a noob question, but can the 2017 Nvidia Shield TV play 1080p on Netflix even if I have 1.4 HDCP? And also, how to know which HDCP my TV supports? Thanks

To check what quality Netflix plays at, you can search for a video called "Test Pattern" and it'll tell you the bitrate, bit depth, resolution and you can tell.

Check out this tool to check the DRM on your shield, it should detail your HDCP too. My TV is only 720p so I see HDCP 1.X despite the rest of my equipment being HDCP 2.2

Edit: I also now realize you probably don't have a Shield TV yet so hopefully someone with a Shield and a 1080p screen less lazy than me can answer your question

Yes, hdcp 1.4 will still let Netflix play 1080. It will refuse to play 4k, through. I've tested this because 6 out of 7 ports on my receiver are 1.4, and it played fine at 1080 using those ports.

I have a 4k tv and other apps like YouTube run in 4k but Netflix does not. It used to work in 4k when I first bought it. Nothing had changed so the same port is being used, which is plugged directly into my tv. Not sure how to fix this. I tried different ports to no avail.
