Is there a ATV apk database?

by syde1020

Several apps I use I pulled from my firetv and side loaded into my shield. Is there a website that hosts Android TV apps where I could download the compatible apps straight to my device instead of having to go through the trouble of pulling apps, renaming, transferring then installing them to my shield?

Looks like the android tv specific ones have (Android TV) at the end of the name.

Aptiode works well on the Shield I downloaded A&E onto my shield with it... http://www.aptoide.com/

Yes I agree with @theallen247 below, Install the Aptoide alternate Apps store .apk from their website using a USB stick or similar and a File manager like X-Plore.

Do NOT use ES File explorer on any Android TV box - it causes all sort of issues, like strange popups and unmounting of USB HDD's. Worst App for ATV on the Apps store period.

It really kills me how much better the app selection and support is on the FireTV. In some ways it's a better Android TV than the real thing. I just can't stand all the Amazon shit on it and having to mod my way out of it.

What I do is use Apps2Fire to download the APK from my FireTV to my phone, and use SMB to copy from my phone to my shield. Then use a TV App Repo app to install the app and create a shortcut if there is no launcher icon. No renaming required.

Is there something wrong with the Play Store? Or do you mean apps outside of it?

I searched everywhere for something like this. My CW app stopped working because it's outdated and I can't find the lastest version. If you find one let us know!

How do you guys do this? I tried forever to figure out how to get FireTV apps to Android TV. To do the opposite is easy and there's tutorials for it all over. I can never find tutorials or mention of doing it this way. If you could describe it or point me towards a website describing it I would greatly appreciate it. I've asked on here before and never gotten anything back. I've also mentioned that it'd be great if someone compiled or started a list that others could add to of which apps from the FireTV run well on Android TV that aren't available in the Playstore if somebody is interested in doing that.
