I am using a USB mic as an audio in source when making voice searches/commands, but my Shield TV is now trying to send audio to the mic as well (instead of over HDMI). How can I use the mic for audio in, without changing the audio out?

plug your mic into a computer, does it show as a sink or source or both? it should only show as a source. if not, it's your mic hardware; if so, it's a bug in the shield's rom.
there may be some adb commands you can make, but if the exist, they'll probably need to be set on every boot (maybe there's an app for that?).
So it was working fine then it stopped suddenly?
Since no replies as yet I would experiment with the order you plug in your hdmi and mic after boot, and get other usbs or a usb hub to see if that helps reset things.
