USB microphone for Ok Google on NVIDIA Shield TV

Has anyone got this working? I saw people talking about webcam for this purpose. I bought a Samson USB microphone for this purpose I was hoping it would be an improvement over the shield remote. Two questions:

  1. Has anyone gotten a USB microphone to work? If so how / what kind?
  2. PS eye works... But does it work for OK Google when the shield is off?

I bought a Logitech C270 and it works just fine as a mic. I didn't even do anything extra, just plugged it in.

I tried using an old webcam with mic. No luck, but I put minimal effort into it...

Really hoping when nVidia launches the spot, the shield Assistant works better with Google Home's assistant.

I mean, my wife and I both have Pixels and the Assistant doesn't conflict with Home the way Shield does.

I wish the shield would respond like Google home but you need the mic button to be pressed

Any advice for a usb microphone fit for this purpose? Want something that is relatively small.
