I signed up for Plex's lifetime subsription last year (great deal). Plex on the 2nd gen Nvidia Shield records most of my shows without a problem, but Plex currently doesn't record / write to ssd some shows unless I just happen to reboot the Shield, say 24 minutes into the recording, then the Shield writes to ssd those 24 minutes (I have another thread about this -- folder is created but no .ts file written for some shows unless rebooting). Anyway, I want to sign up for HDHomeRun's DVR software too and see if HDHomeRun can catch those shows that Plex currently doesn't.
On SiliconDust's DVR page, it says, "Our App is available for many Android Devices (minimum Android 4.4.2). Additional storage required for recorded content with the exception of Nvidia Shield TV 500Gb which can be used for recording."
I don't have the 500 Gb Shield mentioned in the quote above. Instead I use the 16-gig Shield combined with a 500-gig Samsung SSD. That shouldn't be a prob, should it? I don't want to install HDHomeRun DVR on a separate PC computer (aka, noise-maker). I would like to install it on the totally silent Shield with ssd as adoptive storage.
Nope, no problem.
Just FYI, the HDHR DVR on Android doesn't do encrypted media yet. I'm assuming since you've been using Plex that isn't an issue but just wanted to mention it.
