Hi
I have a sony bravia 2017 model with android 7.0
When I turn the TV on google play movies starts playing a trailer for some movie, which is really annoying. Sometimes a trailer will start playing at random times and once it happened while I was watching the TV.
What is really frustrating is how difficult it is to exit the trailer. The only way I've found is pressing the home button and then the trailer will continue playing in the background until you launch another app. To top of the frustration the trailer is like 10 min long and it says "Rent for x$" but I've yet to find a way to actually rent the movie through this ad.
So this app is a total disaster and I would like to remove it from my TV. I've already disabled the app, uninstalled updates, force stopped the app and all that jazz but to no avail.
How can I prevent google play movies from playing ads on my TV?
I haven’t seen this happen yet and would destroy my set if it persisted. If you have force stopped and disabled the app though, sounds like it might not be the Google Play Movies app that is causing it. I mean, if it were, wouldn’t we all be complaining about the same thing? Maybe it’s another rogue app that is causing it. Way back when I had an issue with an app, ES File Explorer I think it was, that kept popping up unrelated ads. I ended up replacing it with an older version that didn't have that adware...
Have you sideloaded anything, by any chance?
