HBOGO works fine on the Mi Box for me, watched through a few shows and movies no issues.
There are some problems on the Mibox and even the Shield TV. HBO now does work perfectly on the MiBox from my experience. The apps user interface looks identical between now and go.
HBO Go is supported on The Shield TV so you can install it from the playstore.
I know this is old, but I wanted to share my experience. HBOGo (Asia) wasn't showing up in my Playstore. I ended up sideloading it and while it could open, it wouldn't let me log in. So what I end up doing is casting from chrome to my mi box (something that wasn't working before) and it opens and plays perfectly in the HBOGo app on the tv.
It doesn't work, application is total trash.
Just download it from the Playstore on your Mi Box. Awhile ago there were a few here that had trouble with it but others didn't (including myself).
If it was actually incompatible/unsupported with a device than the developer generally sets it so it doesn't even show in the store.
