I can play netflix shows with google assistant on my shield tv. I can also use my phone and it works. Weird that google home cant do that.
They really should be ashamed. Unfortunately there's nothing closer to that level of integration than Chromecast.
This is a Netflix problem not a Google problem the implementation of cast that they use on Android TV is old and so you cant cast from Assistant or phones not sure about chrome on the desktop I can't even see my shield TV or my mi box when I click cast in the Netflix app. This really is a serious issue and needs to be fixed.
I can get my home to play YouTube videos on my nexus player. It just seems to be Netflix that doesn’t work?
I regularly say "hey Google, tell Harmony to turn the TV on" and then I'll say hey Google, play ESPN on shield. I dig it.
Weird. Home and Chromecast work great
+1 for me playing the video, my Google home picking it up and asking which device I want to play it on lol
Instead of complaining here, do it at the twitter of @netflix. It clearly says that "Google Home works with netflix on: Chromecast, TVs with Chromecast built-in" at https://help.netflix.com/en/node/55587 . So if they say it works, it should work and they just don't know it doesn't.
Owner of a 939d here and this is finally what I've been looking for. When you search it my Sony is supposed to work with Google home but it doesn't.

Totally inexcusable that this still doesn't work Google. Just bought a mini and it can't play Spotify on my Nexus Player?
I get that it isn't supported, but it's running Oreo. Everything should work on the latest version of your OS, with a new product.
