ShieldTV/Android TV Inputting channel numbers

by pipplo

I know the native Android TV remote doesn't have them, but I have a Logitech Harmony remote which has numbers. The mapping seems to not support inputting numbers, but when trying to use any of the live tv options it's a huge pain scrolling through channels 1 at a time.

For instance when I load Live TV it starts at channel 1, but all my HD channels start at 700.

Is there anything I'm missing, or is this just impossible to support.

With Google live channels if you are using that app you can in settings under manage channel listing you can toggle SD/HD basically you can toggle off SD so it we'll only show the HD channels.

And unfortunately there isn't a way that I can think entering a channel number

But what you can do is use voice to tune in a channel.

Just push the voice button and say watch CBS and it well tune in for you .

I map a computer to my activity and use the numerics on that profile, works well but I think you need to setup the computer first and add the Shield second (it has been a while). They are not available for favorite channels however. I've bugged Logitech about fixing this quite a bit.

Edit: I did a write up here a while ago about different Harmony tweaks, some may be out of date by now: https://www.reddit.com/r/AndroidTV/comments/5r6ev8/shield_tv_harmony_button_megathread/
