I'm trying to connect to a SFTP server on port 22 with my Kodi and while it connects to it just fine and the database show's all of my files, when I try to watch a movie/tv show my speed (according to my router) is only 600kb/s while on my computer from the same SFTP server I'm getting 30MB/s with one segment. Been scratching my head with this, what could be causing this and how do I remedy it, or should I just use regular FTP instead of SFTP?
It could be Kodi's internal SFTP client. In the back of my head, I think I've read that Kodi's SFTP client is particularly slow. Maybe it's only using one processor thread for the encryption or something like that. I could be wrong, though. It might be worth checking out a Kodi v18 alpha, which has lots of various improvements done for the virtual file system (and related file transfer clients).
