So I recently bought a Sony Bravia TV with Android TV on it and a "chromecast built in". In the beginning connecting it to my phone was the biggest pain in the ass, especially since I also purchased a CC audio that day and it was fantastic. After what seemed like forever, I got it hooked up and continued installing my TV. Now here's the thing. The room where it sits is practically in another building from where the router is, and since I love me a stable connection I plugged an ethernet cable into the TV. When I tried casting something days later, it appeared that you REALLY can only cast when it's connected to the WiFi. I had hoped that was only needed for the initial connection but it seemed like you just need it to be connected to WiFi all the time, which really is a bit disappointing to me. So I suppose my question is: is there a way to do this with the ethernet cable in it or am I just screwed?
EDIT: Okay so uhm... It turns out I wasted everyone's time. Upon further inspection I took a look at the physical wiring of my house and here's the discovery: The switches weren't connected to the router but to the modem. So, I set the router up as a bridge and that pretty much fixed it. I wanna thank everyone who helped me, I wouldn't have looked at the IP if it weren't for the numerous comments about it and I learned a lot.
Yes. My Bravia has worked on Ethernet since I got it. Casting from WiFi devices or my Google Home is quick. Both devices need to be on the same subnet etc., i.e., both 192.168.0.X and 255.255.0.0.
