And yes, my digital sounds setting is on HDMI. I had to force it, as auto-detection goes to SPDIF.

What receiver you got? I use to have a Samsung 5.1 home theater in a box which I was able to get 5.1 sound through my PS4 while the mibox only played stereo. I currently upgraded to a Yamaha RX-V773 and I was now able to play 5.1 sound without issue on the mibox.
May or may not help.
My receiver is a Sony STR-DN1000.
I changed the HDMI setting to AMP...which is all I did.
Then I went back to the MiBox and the HDMI setting auto detection went to HDMI and not SPDIF.
Probably doesn't help though..that's all I seen to do.
