Sometimes the Recommendations Bar gets out of hand

by threehappypenguins

So I got up this morning, and thankfully my kids hadn't gone on the Shield yet, and I see a great big disturbing thumbnail in the recommendations bar from Haystack TV (The Fumble... sports) of a porn star by the name of Richelle Ryan wearing almost no clothing (you know, just the little triangles covering her goods) in a seductive pose next to Odell Beckham. Some sort of story about them. I don't know. I don't care.

All I know is that I am quite perturbed to have something so inappropriate show up on my TV. Even La Senza at the mall isn't nearly as bad (and I still get my kids to shield their eyes there too).

I love the recommendations bar, but I keep having to remove apps from showing up on it. I removed YouTube from showing up in the Recommendations Bar for the same reason (they don't recommend the same videos as they recommend me in the app itself... only the videos they see fit). So for now I unstarred the sports section of Haystack.

Recommendations Bar sucks big time. Personally I had to disable recommendations for almost every single app, because they were completely hopeless. Right now I have one recommendation from SofaScore and AccuWeather and I've installed Kodi18 alpha and added movies to the library, so there would be actually something semi-useful. I'm glad that I don't have Oreo.

I have experienced the same thing. Even YouTube suggestions (for things that can't in any way match my viewing habits) would come up. Right now the only thing really left on my recommendations row is Plex.

Plex and Spotify are the only apps on my TV that give decent recommendations. Don't get me started on Youtube, I have disabled all notifications from it - totally unrelated to my watching history.

I'll give a try with Vimeo after seeing some comments on that other thread
