Why do you want to?
Settings/Apps/Running/*/ForceStop, if you really need it.
not sure but I think that is just for the shield
I'll try it out on my TV
I constantly use Plex, PSVUE, YouTube and Netflix.
I never kill the apps but you can go in and force close them under playstore or somewhere in the menus. I normally just reboot it if it acts up, which can easily be done from the controller most of the time.
If you have N beta you can double tap home to get to the recents menu to close. If you're on M you need to dig though settings apps scroll though running apps and find the app you want to close
If you enable the mouse mode, click down at the bottom, and open the running apps, and close them out at will
It's an Android .. just long-press 'back' button to force close the current app
Alt+tab on a keyboard opens up the recents menu, but near as I can that that also kills whatever you're switching away from
Just don't, there is no need to do it and any benefit that you think can stem from doing it isn't actually real. Let the OS manage the memory. If for some reason you need to force close a misbehaving app you can long press the back button and/or force close it from the Apps section in the system settings.
It is just for AndroidTV N. Currently (and for awhile) the Mi Box is beta testing N.
If it's for memory management, Android is pretty good with that and will close apps when needed. You can open Developer Settings and change the amount of apps that are allowed in the background if you feel you need that.
If it is about closing apps so you know they aren't streaming/ using data in the background than you have to go into settings and manually force close each app. Most streaming apps stop streaming though. If it shows as the background video after hitting home (like Vue), I just enter and exit Settings.
