I mean, it's a device that's intended to use a TV for video. Just cuz you only want audio doesn't make it a POS. It just means you don't know how to use it properly.

Turn the Screen Off in your TV settings. Many TV's have this now for Audio only output.

I would like to change this behavior as well. I bought one of these thinking it would be as good as a Chromecast with the addition of having Android TV behind it. That's not been the case.

  • Turns off when the TV turns off, disabling casting of everything (not just music).
  • Can't control actual TV / AV volume over CEC. Just soft-volume, which sucks because you then have to have the TV or AV up pretty loud to have a decent 'max' volume, but some 5.1 audio gets passed-through at full volume and if my kid changes inputs to play a game then it's instantly full volume, giving everyone a heart attack each time it happens.
  • Can't specify specific season/episode when used with a Google Home (works with regular Chromecast)
