TCL TV really bad at streaming 1080p .mkv

The picture is really laggy and blurry when something happens quickly. When I connect my PC and stream through a HDMI cable the picture is a lot better.

Am I doing something wrong? I am using VLC for android, are all the android tv's really bad at streaming high quality content from a PC?

Might be the CPU in the TV that can't handle that MKV file. Better to buy a TV based on picture quality and tack on a more powerful box that's easily upgradeable.

Have you tried more than just VLC?

If you're looking to watch MKV's, you might wanna look into getting Plex setup or using something like Videostream on your PC to cast the specific file.

I think it was the MKV's fault. As a video container, MKV can contain various video and audio codec. Maybe, your TV can't handle all MKV files. In this case, you can try to convert MKV to MP4 with a video converter . MP4 is much easier to stream than MKV.
