Installed Acorn TV App, Not Showing on Home Screen?

by Daintysaurus

Sony Bravia 940E. Had the tv about two months, still struggling with this interface.

Acorn TV app downloaded fine, looks like it should work fine (i.e. seems to be same as Crackle - who watches Crackle?). But where's my app? Not anywhere on Home Screen. Help! Thanks

You either need a side load launcher or you can launch it from settings/apps.

Well, you could if it worked. I can’t get it to launch on any of my Shield TVs or my Mi Box.

You could try an Amazon Acorn TV subscription (Prime membership required)

It's a problem with the app itself. It is best to contact their support for them to fix it.

It happened to me with a File Commander update. I contacted them and they replied that there was a minor mistake when updating the phone app and they had to do a quick fix. Next update and it worked fine.

It means the app is not Android TV compatible and you'll have to side load it some way. You could use sideload launcher ( https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=eu.chainfire.tv.sideloadlauncher&hl=en )

You could also use this site ( http://atvlauncher.trekgonewild.de/index.php ) to make an apk that will launch the app directly and not require the above solution. Make the apk, then sideload it and you should now have access to Acorn TV app from the launcher.
