A screen saver that sources HD images from Reddit (/r/earthporn, /r/architectureporn etc.)

by mishrabhilash

Hey guys, this subreddit seems legit place for letting you know about this androidTV app I created. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.abhilashmishra.hues

This app fetches beautiful Images from some of my favorite subreddits and displays on your android TV.

I sincerely hope posting self developed app link here doesn't violate subreddit policy.

I tried it. Good option for screensavers. Do you intend to add options to the app so that users can choose/enter whichever Reddit stream they want. E.g. /r/dogs, etc.

Just downloaded now it's awesome.

Just a few suggestions:

  1. Have a custom time setting for images to change
  2. Option to include title of image. (it would be nice to know where the photo was taken)
  3. Make author's name a bit bigger
  4. Ability to reposition the clock to any corner
  5. Have a custom fade in/out time

Thank you

Sweet! As a user of Wallpaperer on my Mac, I love this idea for my AndroidTV. Thanks for making it!

Would it be possible to make your app compatible with the same image souces used by Muzei Live Wallpaper ? The code and API is open, so it seems like a convenient way to have a lot of potential sources for your app.

Thanks! Gonna try it out

Did not have a chance to try this yet but I was wondering why are you showing mobile phone screenshots in the app store when its specifically for android TV?

will this work on an actual Android TV TV like the Philips? Did not have much luck with google's own chromecast-like screensaver

(note: i pushed it remotely to my tv, will try it when at home)

Really cool thanks, options for time setting and adding own pics or subreddits would be awesome
