UGREEN usb 3 ethernet hub doesn't work with Mi Box

by skatastamoutramou

Hi guys, I've read many post here in reddit that UGREEN usb 3 hub woks fine with Mi Box, so I purchased one a few days ago. When I first connected the hub with Mi Box I noticed that the blue LED indicators did not lit up and I supposed that the power supply form Mi Box was not enough, so I purchased an external power supply for the hub. Now LEDs are lit up and usb ports working as I test one of them with a USB stick. Unfortunately ethernet port doesn't seem to work. I can't see any changes in Mi Box network settings, and no other LED lit up on hub and on my router's ethernet port. Am I doing something wrong? Does this hub works only in Nougat beta firmware? I am on stable android 6 rom...

On your PC what chipset is the adapter? One only had success with asix network controllers, like the 88179

I have the ugreen USB Ethernet adapter with asix chip and it works on my mi box.

Try it on a PC or Nintendo switch if it doesn't work the adapter is defective.

I have been using the ugreen USB hub 2.0 for my Mibox for almost a year. I have swapped it interchangely among 5 other mibox I helped set up for friends without a single hitch. I ordered mine from Ugreen official online store on AliExpress. Maybe you got a lemon unit?

Thanks for the comments everyone. Guys, I have the usb 3 version with the Gbit ethernet adaptor in case it's not clear from the title. I have no time right now to check for the chipset, I just connected the device to a Proliant server that is closed to my TV without the external power supply and my router's ethernet port indicator lit up immediately

Can you plug something else into the USB port on the MiBox to check the port isn't faulty?

Anybody knows if the ugreen usb 3 need the external power to works or not? Does it work even if the mi box goes to sleep?

Hi bivmac, yes my Ugreen USB 2.0 comes with three usb ports and 1 rj45 lan port. It doesn’t ever seem to disconnect though. Cheers
