I thought the same thing about mine, remote had been horribly unresponsive since day 1, hope your problem is as easy to fix.

I enabled developer options and set background apps limit to 1 . Now it's like a whole new TV, remote is responsive and navigating around is just quicker in general.

The problem comes from bloatware, too much crap running in the background, just like every Android device not sold by Google.
