Good for Google, fuck Amazon, can't use Amazon Prime video on Chromecast, can't buy Chromecast on Amazon. Glad Google is hitting back.
I tried Amazon Prime and one of the main reasons I decided not to buy the service is that I could not cast it using my Chromecast, that and Amazon.ca just sucks compared to Amazon.com
Sony Android TVs have Amazon Prime Video.
Currently still have my Chromecast Ultra. I want to see how all of this plays out before making a purchase.
I don't even USE their video service but I do pay for the service for shipping benefits. I should have the option to use it where I want.
Don't worry, once Net Neutrality is dead everyone will be blocking everyone unless you pay more for it.
Prime Video remains the only service that I miss on my Android TV (Mi Box 3), and as the android app doesn't have any cast functionality, so it is not a great experience on my Xbox either. I hope this stand-off between Google and Amazon leads to something positive. Otherwise, it is only Amazon customers at a loss without Youtube, we didn't have Prime Video anyway.
Just curious if you side load the regular Android app for prime video it won't work at all? I haven't tried I have it built into my smart TV so I am lucky.
If you think this ends well for the consumer with both sides cooperating and working on each other's devices you are sorely mistaken.
Kind of silly that Amazon is actually crying about being selectively blocked, but they're literally doing the exact same thing with both hardware and software.
They've been pretty anti-competitive for way too long.
