I haven't had the Shield long, but when I first got it I noticed an extreme amount of lag on the remote. I just saw an update is available for the remote. It lets me update for a little and then I get an error every time. Does anyone have a solution?
I have two shields. One of the first gen (got on launch date) and one of the updated ones I purchased last month.
There is a terrible intermittent lag on the new remote & shield. I never notice a lag when I'm trying to wake up the system, but remote keypresses sometimes lag for several seconds on the new shield system when it's "up". Lag seems to be in all apps as well. I think it's in the OS. I have not used the controller enough to know if it's also lagging with that.
The old shield is much better.
I have a 2017 Shield TV and also notice the lag on the remote, but not the controller. I think this is due to the remote using Bluetooth and the controller using wifi direct. My TV is mounted on the wall and the Shield was placed between the wall and TV. I think the TV was causing interference with the Bluetooth connection. I moved the Shield out from behind the TV and no longer have the lag.
Might I also suggest replacing the batteries in the remote. I had severe lag until I replaced the batteries.
