by Samsam1958

I am in the US and Canada for the holidays and wondering if I buy a Xiaomi Mi Box will it work in Australia?

Yes, but the picture will be upside down.

We use ours here in Australia every day of the week. Kodi, YouTube, Netflix all the time. Your local streaming apps may be geoblocked.

I bought the mibox 3 international version from an overseas seller and works fine in Australia.

I bought from USA and use it in NZ, should be fine :)

No more problem prone than using in USA, with the following caveats:

You will need an adapter plug to match Aussie wall socket. It will handle 110-240V and 50-60 cycle power inputs. Make sure to use the factory standard transformer in the package as its power requirements are unique.

There may be the usual issues that affect Netflix international users. Will you require a VPN or other trickery to connect with Netflix servers?

Best and only US source is a local Walmart.

Scuff it up when you head home to avoid potential import tariff issues. Enjoy your visit!!

Can confirm that it does work. I bought one when I was on holidays in the US a year ago from Walmart, and it works fine in Australia

phrog

It sure does.

It works anywhere in the world. What you might or might not have problems with is the different streaming services and apps that are actually available in your country. But the device and OS per se work anywhere.

I can’t really answer your question (although I don’t see why it wouldn’t work), but the Mi Box is only in the US, so make sure you get it there. Canada doesn’t have it.
