What is the current version number of the Amazon Video app on the Sony TVs?
I am currently using v3.11.44 on my Shield that was originally ripped from a Sony Android TV (I know there's a native Shield app now, but this version lets me access US Videos).
I did happen to notice the app got a new makeover, but the version number remains the same.
It is still limited to 1080p quality though.

I have a Bravia and Amazon Prime Streaming video stutters the first 15 to 30 seconds or so then plays back smoothly. Have you given the software time to work itself out during playback? Its an odd problem but that's been my solution. Im running Amazon Prime Video on an XBR55X930D if that helps.
Same problem on the Bravia...
