My dad bought me an android box but it looks like it doesnt support Google Cast. Also, how do I know if its real androidTV or just android in a box. Because its on nougat and the settings interface looks legit.

If it doesn't support Google Cast, it's not AndroidTV. If it's not one of the devices listed in the sidebar, it's not AndroidTV.
There is an alternative called cast receiver or something. It's an app.
But as everyone said return the crap and get Android TV

There are two choices right now (for the most part.) They are the Nvidia Shield and the Xiaomi Mi Box. If it's not one of those, you don't have Android TV.
If it's just running Android, then return that box and buy a real Android TV device. We also have a list in the sidebar if you want to just read a list of devices that run Android TV.
