Honestly the best compromise between a streaming stick and an HTPC. I pretty much stopped using my HTPC with how convenient and flexible android tv is. I wish my mi box had a little more power for emulators

I love my mibox too i also have a shield i know it's more expinsive but i feel the price is right for both if your into the gaming aspect it may be worth checking out
My Sony Android TV is crap. Aside from the myriad of frustrations, the TV has started crashing in a blank screen state. I have to unplug it and plug it back in to get it working. It's done it three times in the last two weeks.
Yeah, the Shield replaced a Windows HTPC for me and I never looked back. The only thing missing is live TV; Live Channels doesn't work because I'm in a DVB country. I was using IPTV for a while but dropped it because between Netflix, Amazon, YouTube, and Plex there is more than enough to watch.
I use a Synology NAS for Plex, Sonarr and Radarr, and it's pretty much a dream system for me.
Shield has been wonderful for me. Mi Box stutters and has issues with Plex playback. I loaded the latest beta on my Mi Box and it can't find my Plex server now, either. So probably going to buy another Shield.
