The stuttering on the Mi Box deems it a useless piece of junk

by Mariano_boluffo

I play my media from a brand new portable hdd (WD's My Passport). Kodi and SPMC as media players. It should play movies and albums smoothly. That's what the USB port is for. I'm not going to change the method

Plugging it straight to my LG 4K TV has been gives me no problem.

It is ridiculous that a TV is better at playing media than a product that was designed specifically for it.

And if you think it's just me, google "mi box stutter" (you won't need to type it all, it's such a popular search, the engine predicts it) .

From now on, I'll advice everyone to not buy a Mibox.

When I had my MiBox, it handled content over SMB up to 4K in Kodi without stuttering (Ethernet not wifi) 4K only had to buffer for a moment if I fast forwarded

Would you mind to record your stutter? I’ve seen a lot of people claiming that but I don’t think I’ve ever seen it myself.

I'll guess it's refresh rate related? The mibox don't auto switch and the USB is fast enough for at least 1080p. 24, 25, 59.97fps dont play right at 60hz. I mean they are close but still 'stutter' if you're looking for it when the frames duplicate to keep audio sync. there's websites which will tell you exactly how often that happens if you're curious. I found 24fps especially noticable. Either manually verify and match framerate in settings, or set spmc up to do it automatically with adb after every reboot.

I had the same problem. Upgrading to 1028 nogat beta fixed it.

I recently had the issue also. It was progressive and got worse over time. A factory reset fixed it, and then just re-configured it, which took maybe 30 minutes. All is working well now.

Heard some had that issue. Im one of the others that never had that issue. Good luck.

What media player are you using?

I found MX Player to work the best

I had the same issue, along with issues with the box being unable to play Plex files consistently and horrendously laggy app performance. I'm giving up on it and replacing it with another Shield.

Magnetic_dud

never had any problem with archos media player
