Android TV VS Paid TV

by rag2g

Hey Reddit,

So I'm thinking about throwing away my sub for paid TV.

I'm looking for something that will allow me to use IPTV and also play movies from my server.

I know a bit about TV box but I'm looking for something good and if possible not that expensive.

i found this : https://www.amazon.ca/Android-Globmall-Amlogic-Processor-Keyboard/dp/B01MYXVZRV/ref=sr_1_5?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1514921390&sr=1-5&keywords=android+tv

I understand its pre-installed with kodi and can be modified of course if needed.

If anyone has one of these i'd like a quick review and what you do with it :)

Thanks by advance!

FYI, Android TV is an operating system that Google optimized for the living room. It's forked from Android. That's what this subreddit is for.

What you've linked is one of many Chinese junk boxes that run regular Android. They prey on people who use the search phrase "Android TV" in search of legit Android TV devices and instead come across all these hacked together boxes of crap that run a touchscreen operating system for a display that isn't touchscreen.

For real AndroidTV than you can use Kodi for crappy streams/UI that tends to be broken or inconsistent. But if you want a real service, PS Vue, SlingTV, Hulu Live and YouTube TV would be cheaper than Cable, legal, and much better.

You are looking at a garbage box with Android Phone OS. Get a Mi Box, Shield or even Nexus (discontinued). Or buy a FireTV box.
