Leanback launcher on Android Phones

by Shayan__

I've recently returned a Mi Box 4k because I hated the performance.so slow. Is there any chance to install Android TV Launcher (leanback launcher) on android phones? I have decided to use my phone instead. Kodi is nice but liked the leanback launcher.

Android TV is optimized for a remote. Android is optimized for a touchscreen.

Maybe you should just get a Chromecast and continue using your mobile apps.

I'm fairly sure there is a leanback launcher apk on apkpure or similar.

The exact one you can't install, but I'd be surprised if no one has made a launcher in the same style, maybe even nearly identical. I don't know where to get one, but searching something like "leanback style launcher" would likely give links to people doing it

Smart launcher paired with a BT controller might be a workable option for TV. The icons and layout seem to work smoothly enough with an add on accessory.

You can get the Android TV apps from opengapps.org, but it's kind of an involved process. You'll have to unlock your bootloader and flash them using a custom recovery, and even then, there's no guarantee they'll work well on your phone.

There are some other launchers you can try that do work on a phone, and aren't quite as intensive to get working.
