Best way to share large files from phone to Shield

by Aholidayatc

I have my Shield TV set up over local network storage with ES File Explorer connected to it on my phone. However, when I select the Shield from my phone it doesn't do anything. Am I missing something or is there an easier way? I use the Google Drive method for small files but I want to use a my local network to share large files.

Can't you just connect your phone to the sheild with a USB cable? Then just transfer the files with whatever file manager app you can find?

Set up your shield to allow SMB access. Then use something like Solid Explorer instead of ES. Less potential spying for one thing.

What's the use case here?

Haven't used ES File Explorer in a while (it turned into creepy-AF adware really quick), so I have no idea how to make it work on that. I've used ASUS File Manager to transfer files over quick and easy.

Can't you mount the shield in your phone? Setup a share on shield and it'll give you login credentials over SMB.

You can mount the shield as a network device on your desk/laptop, plug your phone into the computer and find your file in windows explorer/finder, then just copy and paste it over.

I use an app called WiFi File Transfer.

AirDroid works very well at transferring files between devices in a local network.

Quickest way would be a sneakernet of otg cable and usb stick from phone then usb stick into the shield.

I use send anywhere app. It can transfer files of any size. Check it out if you like! It's all secure etc!! send-anywhere.com

If your phone has a micro SD card slot save everything you want to that and the plug the card into the back of the shield
