Nexus player with Oreo looks broken

by viralslapzz

I have a Nexus Player running Android 8. I have stopped using it for several months and a couple weeks ago turned it on to update it to Oreo. After the update I couldn't believe what my eyes were seeing... The launcher, which is dark as hell, looks so broken to me. So many animations that aren't happening, like switching from the entries of a list to the icon on the left of the list. It seems like a "jump" or something so weird... I've been searching online about that but I don't see many info or complains about it. How's everyone feeling about it?

ya it looks like crap.

I plugged in my old nexus player last week to check out oreo and did not like it at all. The launcher felt clunky and awkward to use.
I dread the day Nvidia updates the Shield to Oreo. I really hope they offer the ability to use the old launcher some how.

So if I were you, I'd wipe it, restore and root it back to 7.1, remove the Google Play Service Updated and prevent Android from updating. That's what I did.

I couldn't use Oreo. It was useless on my Nexuses/Nexi.
