It has Webos which isn’t bad, it’s pretty good actually, but the lg store has really nothing there, and I wanted more apps and I also wanted to listen to my tv through my headphones. Should I wait for the shield tv to drop in price or what?

I highly doubt the price is going anywhere past its historical low of $150.
I haven't heard of any impending price drops, and I wouldn't expect one until next year. If you're balking at price, refurbished units are often available at a pretty steep discount. Or you can wait for Amazon to do their Prime Day sale; the last two years have had big enough discounts on the Shield to make it worthwhile even if you're not a Prime member (you can just subscribe to Prime for a month for $11).
Just get it they are awesome. I like the remote as well As the controller
What apps do you actually want to install?
I bought a 4k tv after I bought a Mibox and the TV ended up doing everything I did with the Mibox (except Spotify).
I woulda saved the money from the android box
I was in the same boat. I ended up going for a ShieldTV and now I never use the WebOS interface. I love the Shield so much. Even though the top two apps I use are available in WebOS (YouTube and Plex) they are much easier to navigate in Android.
The only bummer is that shield TV doesn't have Dolby Vision 😕 so I use Netflix from my LG B7 for Dolby Vision content
I never tried webOS, I have SHIELD TV, the store of Android TV isn't that impressive honestly.
Main selling point of SHIELD TV is the performance during playback, especially of 4K content. The support for Plex Media Server, the game streaming and gaming capabilities.
