It really didn't gain any momentum. Especially when reviews rave about the Sony X900 but say Android TV on it has a slow/unresponsive UI and software sometimes crashes. One website just recommends you stay away from it and use the TCL Roku TV.
It's a shame Android TV is so poorly supported, but let's face it Google has terrible Android support across the board outside the Pixel line.
maybe I'm missing something but the article is about Amazon TV which it different than Android TV.
I hope so since it's stagnated lately and third parties are so stubborn about making the transition
