Philo Tv

by diragono

I tried searching, but couldn’t find anything definitive. I currently have Directvnow and have a fire tv and Roku. I recently learned of Philo tv, but the only app they have available is for Roku. On the fire stick you can use silk browser and it streams fine, so I was wondering if anyone had tried it using chrome on android tv? I’m really wanting to pick up a shield as I love the android tv os and use YouTube tv and Philo to compliment each other, but the wife would kill me if I switch and she not be able to watch Investigation Discovery on philo

I realize you posted this months ago, but I just got an Nvidia Shield today and I am a Philo subscriber. I can confirm with 100% accuracy that Philo works perfectly on the shield through Chrome, sideloaded through ES File Explorer. It works better than the Roku app as you are able to access the guide like you can on a computer. Further, the Stream isn't compressed like it is on an App so the quality is absolute perfect HD. It's awesome :D! Enjoy!

There was a post about this service a week ago over in another sub.

I tried Philo. I was quite surprised to find there is no native app for AndroidTV. It "only" works with your phone. Some say they use it via Chrome or other browser on the Shield, but the WAF on this is gonna be 0 or below.

DirectTVNow on the Shield works great after you sideload the apk (very easy). YoutubeTV also worked very well.

Sure. Just the standard Google Chrome for Android APK worked just fine. Once you install Chrome just go to Philo’s website, sign in through the mobile phone access code it texts you, and that’s it. It’s just like using it on desktop Chrome but instead use the Android Chrome. Here’s the one I used: https://apkpure.com/google-chrome-fast-secure/com.android.chrome
