Directv just sent out all beta users a notice that they can download the fire tv beta from the amazon app store.
I found that if you pull the apk from the fire tv and side load it and the amazon app store onto android tv, it works perfectly.
Steps to install:
- Download the directv now beta apk (I did not upload this and cannot verify contents: https://m.sendspace.com/file/xrht74 )
- "Purchase" the Directv NOW beta from your amazon account: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B073PLVJ1P
- Install a browser on your android TV (sideload chrome, firefox, or install puffinTV: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.cloudmosa.puffinTV )
- Install the directv now beta apk on your android tv and launch it, it will say you need the amazon app store, select help and it will launch the web browser.
- Download the amazon app store, launch it, and login to your amazon account - You will need a mouse and possibly a keyboard to login
- Launch directv now beta and login. Done!
Live tv , on demand, cloud dvr, 5.1 , HD all works! It even shows up on the home screen launcher
Hopefully he post it. I was accepted into the beta but don’t have a fire tv. I have one at work a co worker brought me so if by Monday no one has posted it I’ll grab it for us. I keep seeing people with access to it and they refuse to supply the apk. Not sure why everyone hates us
