Does the DVR in Live Channels work?

I use a Shield with an HDHomerun and antenna. I have no problems using their "HD" program to watch shows and record them to an external hard drive. I tried out "Live Channels", which also works to view TV (and has a nicer guide), but won't work as a DVR. When I click on a show it says I need an exterrnal drive hooked up to use the DVR. Upon a reset now it just says "This show can't be recorded". I see no place to change settings to tell it where the external drive is. I cleared all its data and rolled back an update but nothing helps. Anyone get this to work?

make sure you are using "network tuner (beta)" as the tuner source and NOT the HDHR androidtv app. The HDHR app requires you to buy a subscription to DVR. The built in tuner source of live channels does let you DVR stuff - it works great on my HDHR Prime

What country are you in? It doesn't work in UK if you're there

Not that it helps your HDHR issue but antenna directly to a USB tuner works with the DVR feature in Live Channels. I did this for a few months on a Shield but the guide data leaves a lot to be desired (can't reliably set series schedules at least for me). I went straight to using Plex for DVR when I switched to an HDHR, now I just use Live Channels for viewing actual live content. The few times I tried "Network TV Tuner (BETA)" for a source it behaved poorly.

I was using one of the older hdhomerun devices, which let me view live tv but not record it, it was a single tuner, blue unit. It was not one of the supported hdhomeruns for dvr on the nexus player. May not be your issue, but I know the dvr only supports certain hdhomerun devices. I ended up getting one of the usb tv tuners and it works really well. I'm guessing your issue is not quite related though, as I wasn't able to record with the HD program or Live Channels.

I just realized what could be the problem. The "Live Channels" DVR requires internal storage. Any external drive hooked up has to be made "adoptable" so it acts like internal. The problem with that is only that shield can use that drive (or access its data). This is a deal breaker for me since I want to share shows across the house from shield. So back to the HD software for now.

I am trying to setup the DVR and do not have an option "network tuner (beta)" under sources. I have adopted a 64gb flash drive as local storage and still no network tuner option, using Quantro.

Any help appreciated.
