At the moment, my friend is at the US and he told me that he found a Mi Box selling at the store. But after searching a little bit, I found that some people are getting problems with 1080p TV's that only allow HDCP 1.(something). Is this true? Or it works fine to watch Netflix with a Mi Box on a 1080p TV with no 2.2 HDCP?
tl;dr, for the umpteenth time.....
Success with Netflix and MiBox TOTALLY depends on your TV!!!
Check the factory published specs for your make and model of TV as this is critical. Netflix only requires 1080p output devices to support HDCP level 1.x.
So long as your TV supports HDCP 1.x you will be in the clear and Netflix will operate properly, thru the MiBox, to your correctly equipped TV.
If your TV does NOT provide proper HDCP, you will soon join the crowd of howlers, screamers, whiners and complainers who mistakenly target the Mibox as the source of their Netflix problems
Netflix is the controlling element in this situation. It requires an unbroken chain of HDCP compliance from beginning to end.
IF your TV is equipped with at least HDCP 1.x you will meet the requirements OF NETFLIX for HD streaming.
