I just finished downgrading my Mi Box from Nougat back to Marshmallow 6.0. It took a lot of work as the vietnamese document is kinda confusing for the uninitiated. This is why I re-wrote it and updated it with a more detailed explanation and procedure.

I hope this helps;

What's the benefit?

Shoutout to /u/akumanara for finding this article and providing it in the comments of another thread, the real MVP. But it should have had higher visibility.

Why would you downgrade a device? Is that for people who like their OS to have exploits?

IMO the only real reason to do this is to have the Amazon App work on 6.0, and it's too much additional work to set the entire box back up.

Being my SO's functions fine on the beta that's currently installed, I'll just wait for the official 7.0 ROM to drop.

Mine works very well on nougat, and the USB storage is essencial to me

Does this downgrade with from Oreo as well? I've had all sorts of problems after upgrading to Oreo. Mostly having to do with the fact that it doesn't want to work with my "old" 1080p projector any more. Worked fine before the upgrade.

I want to go back to Marshmallow, but I'm hesitant because it's not clear if these work-arounds have been tested with the new Oreo update.
