Wonder whether anyone here can help. I've been getting decent use out of my Sony Bravia KDL50W805C and, for the most part, it's up to the job. Lately though, it's started lagging a bit, and I can't quite pin down the cause.
OS and all installed apps are up to date, and I've tried clearing the app caches (settings -> storage -> cache -> clear all app caches), and force-stopping/muting the Sony Shelf and Sony Select apps.
I'd quite like to wipe the cache partition to see if it improves anything. Is there any way of doing this? Any similarities to the process for Android phones, perhaps?
I'd rather not do a factory reset without trying some other options first.
In general, anyone have any other tips to make the TV feel more responsive, and cut down on occasional unexpected reboots and network drops? All help much appreciated!
TL; DR: How would I go about clearing the cache partition of my Android TV? I've already cleared app caches but want to try something a bti more drastic, without doing a factory reset.
Try enabling "Developer Options" (press Build No. 7 times) and then switch off animations and limit the Background Processes to 4. You should see a difference in speed after that.
You'll need to change the Background Processes back to 4 every time you do a hard reset but it should survive being switched to standby.
