RIP Mi Box 3 update.

Chinese box

"It is also expected to have artificial intelligence that continuously monitors the user’s watching habits to recommend different types of content."

Think I'll go ahead & say hell naw.

TSwizzlesNipples

Nice! I love my MiBoxes...can't wait to get more details about the new box!

Edit: LOL downvoted for being positive about a new device coming to the market? Alright.

That is NOT a successor to the USA Spec - Android TV Mi Box.

It's a 3s model upgrade for Chinese domestic consumption. The 3s does NOT even run Android TV.

shadywhere

You think there's going to be a hardware refresh?

My guts tell me that Mi Box 4 is going to run the final Nougat implementation that was beta'd on the 3 but with the same S905X hardware.

FALSE ALARM!!!!!! FAKE NEWS

This model is for domestic consumption within PRC, like the bulk of their stbs, except for MDZ-16-AB.

It is the product of a totally different group of engineers with no relation to the dedicated team involved with official AndroidTV MDZ-16-AB.

flipside1o1

ahhh the release don't fix cycle, love it

Timbets

Doesn't sound like Android TV™ device, more like custom Xiaomi software.

enzobusca

I think that this model will come without Play Store.

It'll be interesting to see if they go with a refresh of the MT8693 in the MiBox 3 Enhanced/Pro (a hexacore which put up favourable numbers compared to the Shield at a much lower price point), or if they opt for one of the newer Amlogic offerings (likely the quadcore S905C before moving to the quadcore S905X2 or the S922).

elister

Hope they dont release it in the USA, at that price, nobody is going to buy it and will simply opt for a Shield.

lonaysta

There is nothing like “Android TV” in China. These are highly customized Android based tv boxes, and have nothing to do with US variants that runs Android TV.

Ausernameneeded

Unless Google released a box, this looks to be the end of AndroidTV boxes. Now it's only one box in the market and at a very high price.

Lol China

The Mibox probably spy’s for China anyways. Those people are so iffy
