So what ended up happening with the Nintendo Wii games for the Chinese Shield?

by streetsahead_

were they native or streamed, and if they are native what the chance of porting them out of china?

  1. They are native Android Apps.
  2. They are somehow linked to a standalone iQiYi Store framework for validation purposes (similar to Google Play DRM).
  3. People couldn't get it to work by installing extracted APKs. It's clear something went wrong along the line.
  4. Now that the China firmware is out, there is a chance in the near future someone may be able to get it installed on a non-China Shield, which has a lot of problems to be solved at the moment, to investigate the problem.

They were confirmed to be native, and so far the chances of getting them running on non-China Shield units is unknown. The games aren't released yet to my knowledge, so we won't know the feasibility of it being run on non-China Shield units until it's out. For all we know, there could be a pretty gnarly geolock that can't be gotten around.
