Is there any hack that will keep a Bravia TV connected to WiFi after you turn it off?

by xe_om

Whenever I turn on my Bravia running Nougat, it takes a little while to reconnect to WiFi. So I end up waiting a couple of minutes to access any network-based service -- YouTube, Netflix, etc. Hard-wiring via ethernet solves the problem, but I'm wondering is there any software-based solution to keep WiFi connected so there's no delay when powering on? Thanks!

My hack involved buying an Nvidia shield.

Theres a feature that keeps the tv in a light sleep mode so it can respond to chromecast and android remoye control signals... I would imagine that this would keep it connected?

Get one of those ethernet over power things and connect your TV up to that with the other end near your router. Some models have passthrough plugs so you don't take up a power plug on your wall.

Hmm. My Sony Bravia must still be connected to WiFi after I turn it off, because I can tell Alexa to turn it on, and it does. That wouldn't be possible if WiFi was off and it was disconnected from the network, would it? (I'm not hard-wired, if that part wasn't already obvious.)

This is the most frustrating thing ever. I got a 900e to replace a dead KS8000 (Sonys 900e is the only thing that came close) and I will be returning it as soon as newer TV lines come out. I can count on one hand the amount of issues I had with the Samsung panel until its premature death where as the Sony is a daily struggle.

Configuring IP is the bane of my existence.
