Android TV device with audio sync option?

by BurtMacklin-FBl

I have a Sony 65X900E TV which for some reason has audio sync issues, with audio always being a bit behind video. I mostly use it to watch Netflix and Youtube and this is driving me crazy because I like to use my RF wireless headphones which exacerbate the problem. The headphones are low latency which is almost imperceptible when used on a PC but when coupled with the "built in" delay of the TV it is noticeable and annoying.

The only device I've found so far that offers audio sync adjustment is the nVidia Shield but it has far inferior 1080p->4K scaling and actually seems to have stutter issues with Netflix. The Netflix app on the built in OS on the Sony looks beautiful in 1080p content because it's the TV that does upscaling and this doesn't seem to be achievable on the Shield. Apparently Kodi can automatically switch resolution now but I'm mainly interested in Netflix.

Are there any other options at all? The only requirements are 4K HDR Netflix, good 1080p upscaling and audio sync option. Don't care for Youtube HDR that much.

Putting the shield in 1080p means your tv will do the upscaling to 4k and makes the upscaling much better. I rarely have my shield in 4K now. However it won’t allow 4K netflix to be played on the shield

I have no stuttering issues with my Shield in Netflix. The upscaler is shit, I will give you that, but if you have a good scaler in your TV just set your shield to output 1080p when you aren't viewing 4k. Not an ideal solution but it works.
