It's odd that you have to type a URL into your phone or computer to log into apps on Android TV , even with YouTube TV. It would be a perfect fit to use a QR code to open the link.

By default most Android phones don't read QR codes natively. I'm sure the metrics show that most people don't use QR codes even when they are given the choice.
Apps should do whatever Spotify is doing. I think wifi detection.
How close are you sitting to the tv?
It would take 5x as long to download a QR code scanner (that I wouldn't use for anything else) that to type less than a dozen characters into a browser.
Also, have you tried it? Scanning a code from 6 feet away doesn't work very well even on a 65" TV.
Can anyone help I am having trouble with two apps using android to box
1 we tv only has phone number or email log in but when I log in it doesn’t log into my vip access account it has a different account number any way of getting access via my vip account?
2 iQIYI app you can’t log in at all I get to the log in page click on the log in and nothing happens this is really frustrating and help would be appreciated
QR codes never really took off as a standard for doing much. While your idea might be a good one for stuff like signing into apps, I can’t see QR codes being the go to for something like that.
