Issues with Playing 10bit MKV on TV

by Guanomite

Hey everyone,

I got a Sony X930E, and it just can't seem to play any of my MKV files that are 10bit. It seems that that's the common issue in all the files that have stuttering and freezing issues. I'm using VLC to play my videos (I've tried others, and they all suffer from the same issue).

I'm specifically trying to play video files over USB, which is where my problem lies.

File Container: MKV

Video Format: h.264/Mpeg4

Any idea if maybe my TV's hardware just can't handle these videos?

10 bit video is way too complex for TV hardware decoders as far as I'm aware. Lots of people in here have reported the same issue.

10bit what? Are you talking about h.264 Hi10P or 10-bit HEVC?

Try Kodi. Works much better than VLC in my experience using the Mibox.
