Cant install from APK?

by Zumodoki

Father-in-law's uses Mobdro on his TV, It stopped working and needs an update, However when trying to update the INSTALL button is greyed out.

Uninstalled the app and tried reinstalling and the install option appears to be grayed out for all APKS.

EDIT: Spoke to Philips who informed me they have released an update that fixes the issue of installing from APK, I had received a software update that caused the bug but had not yet gotten the next update which solved the bug.

All is now working again as it once was.

I don't know if it's just the angle, but the screen looks weirdly blue. If you have any kind of screen overlay installed/enabled try disabling that as anything that covers system prompts will prevent them from working as being drawn over they could be used to trick someone into installing something.

Sounds silly, but did you make sure you scrolled all the way down the text first?

Have exactly the same issue. Never had issues updating it until now. Tried to find any apps overlaying (found some people suggesting that) but nothing. My tv is a philips 55PUS6401.

I have the same issue on the Shield TV.

Is install from unknown sources enabled?

Install it using adb debugging. Turn on developer options> adb debugging> then sideload the apk using adb-(platform tools) Msg me if you need help

I just bought a Sony X850E. I'm in developer mode and I have turned on "Allow installation of apps from sources from other than the Play Store"

In the developer section i checked to see if there were any overlays, but nothing was turned on.

I had this problem as I have 2 Sony android tv’s, I feel it was since the new update which I found a solution which I thought I should share. Install a fresh updated file such as mobdro through es file explorer so that it installs in the download folder. Install file commander from google play store click internal storage and go into the download folder and click the file you installed and there you go it’s not greyed out and allows you to install :-)

Hi

I have a Sony Android TV and I am trying to update to 5.05 showbox but the "install" button is greyed out. Does anyone know why this is occurring?

Thanks A
